I was very pleased to come across this recipe!
We actually have an old tin that these cookies were sold in way back in the 30s!
You can see the tin in the photo.
They are very simple and delicious.
I can see this recipe quickly becoming a favorite.
1930s Toll House Cookies
Sift together and reserve:
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 375 F. Beat together:
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup vegetable shortening/lard
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir in flour mixture, then add:
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 - 3/4 cup chocolate pieces
Drop from a teaspoon onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes.
